Now an internationally famous party destination, Phuket is home to bustling night markets, discos and clubs, live music venues and the more infamous Go-Go bars. Many people travel to the island specifically to experience Phuket’s sometimes raucous nightlife. However, if the club scene is not for you, Phuket nightlife still has a lot to offer.
Latest Phuket nightlife trend comes in the form of beach clubs that pepper the island’s shoreline. Beach clubs infuse the best features of stylish restaurants, internationally recognised DJs and world class chefs to create a truly unforgettable evening for their guests. Coupled with the stunning natural surroundings of Phuket’s beaches and the vibrant colours of sunset, it’s no wonder these beachside hotspots have become so popular in recent years.
For people who are after an even more private, romantic evening, why not head to one of the island’s viewpoints to enjoy cocktails at sunset? Phuket’s west coast is dotted with bars for you to do this, it is only important that you arrive on time to avoid missing the best views. The groups of bars overlooking Kata Yai and Kata Noi beaches are the perfect destination for a relaxing evening of Mai-Tais and Mojitos with your loved one.
Phuket nightlife is perhaps most famous for the exciting club and bar scene visitors experience when they opt to spend the evening in Patong’s Soi Bangla. Soi Bangla is home to a multitude of clubs and bars, with many new establishments popping up year after year to tempt holiday makers. Bars in the area usually open at around 9pm and officially continue to serve drinks until around 2am. Despite a crack-down by the authorities on bars that continue to serve drink past the official closing time, it isn’t usually too difficult to find a bar that is still open until the sun comes up.
As well as bars, Soi Bangla is also home to several restaurants, pubs, shops and Go-Go clubs. The area is particularly famous for its raunchiness, and friendly girls will often entice men by playing games of “Connect Four” and “Hammer the Nail” in the hope of finding an evening companion.
For visitors in search of something completely different, a visit to one of Phuket’s many night markets is a way to extend island sightseeing well into the evening. Markets in Patong can be found at Banzaan Shopping Plaza behind Jungceylon, OTOP Market behind the Holiday Inn, and DJ Plaza opposite Duanjitt Resort. Everything from fresh food to local handicrafts is available, but it is advisable to haggle gently with stall owners to get the best price possible.
