surin beach travel information guideSurin Beach, just north of Kamala, is an undeveloped stretch of sand lined with casuarina trees. Although there are now a few hotels springing up Surin is still quiet and peaceful. It is also known as the 'Millionaires Row' due to the top-end celebrity resorts there as well as the many million dollar properties located in the hills above Surin beach. Surin is quite popular with locals and tourists who frequent the seafood stalls and restaurants that line the beach under the shade of the casuarina trees, and can get a little busy during the weekends during the high season. Inland from the beach is Surin Village, a predominantly muslim area of Phuket. There is a small market here and some restaurants where you can sample delicious Masaman curry. For an unforgettable dining experience, try one of the dining venues in any of the 5 star hotels and resorts located in Surin. These resorts also host some world class spas offering everything from rejuvenating facials and massages, to body scrubs and wraps, yoga, detox and spa cuisine. There is good snorkelling offshore when the sea is calm. Popular activities here are sea kayaking, surfing and body boarding. During the rainy season (from June to October) there is a strong rip current and the waves can be quite big making it a dangerous beach to go swimming.
